I dont think I agree with you on your opinions about the comments.
I havent seen negativity about the webtoon i general at all. It seems to me that this webtoon is really liked. And even if people go and rate the wbtoon as bad, it should not be a bad thing. People may think that this story is bad and that doesnt mean that your work and what you do is wrong.
About negative comments about charcaters, I think its pretty much expect. This is not a typical BL. This takes on really deep themes as toxic behaviors, abuse, rape, murder. It will not receive the same light hearted comments as the typical bl does.
The reason why people are discussing in a maybe heated manner, its because of what is being discussed.
For once I have discussed about Jihyun. You are allowed to like that ship of course but what I dont think is correct is talking as if Jihyun as a misunderstood good guy deeep down.
Ive known people that were on this kind of relationship, Ive know how much this hurted them. Its fiction yes, and its not hurting anybody liking this ship, what is in the other hand harmful is normalizing this behavior. Saying that chiwoo should hepl him when he is being abussed.
I love this story because its deep and actually shows every side of this things. But we cant expect to have such a controversial story without controversial discussion.Thats what comments sections are for.
