Having conflict/misunderstanding drives the plot. I understand that and I don't even mind having the over the top/totally unrealistic ones.
But for the love of everything animated why can't the characters own up to it after the issue is resolved. I am so over authors resolving conflicts and then showing that under the rug. Acknowledgement of their faults and a simple sorry can go a long way. There is often attempt of showing growth, but without this first step.
So that is sth I would like to see more of.
Also more of sarcastic, deadpan characters that are not in the position of power. This kind of humour is among few things us broke(en) people have going for us.
Hi I've written a couple stories in my life so here is some advice (⁀ᗢ⁀)
- conflict is important for a story, especially if it makes sense (don't add unnecessary, annoying small conflicts that don't matter to the story itself. it's not fun to read tbh. the conflict needs to ultimately further the story & plot)
- the main character needs to have motivation, quirks & flaws... for relatability. character flaws can be categorised as minor, major, or fatal. It's all up for you to decide

Loooool! This comment is funny because that’s how I originally plotted my first two stories. To be specific, and ugly boy is turned down by a girl. The ugly boy uses the help of her male friend to become her type. Then both the characters start to develop feelings for the once ugly boy. All of the attention makes his life too confusing and it’s great overall but I’m just not sure if it can hold interest long enough. Ofc the boy would t be with the girl though. He grows to understand himself and know what he wants.
I’ve also written some romance pieces and agree with your points. Despite this, that’s where I’m stuck at. For some possible plots the plot doesn’t help the character development. For others, the focus isn’t on the romance enough. The main characters flaws are there, and I like my endings, but the path feels forced. I’m hoping that hearing what people like to see will inspire a different plot line.
Yeah, I've jotted scripts in the past, and for some stories I have the first few chapters scripted by panel. Since the script is so time consuming, i'm holding off until I know I have a well written plot. Dialogue is such an essential element of story telling. I'm going to ask some friends to recite the script so I can check if it feels realistic.
Hello! I’m currently in the process of producing a yaoi series. I was wondering if anyone would tell me what they like to see in long-term stories (plot, character traits, etc. ) Thank you!ヾ(❀╹◡╹)ノ~
