My nephew also went through this.

I have nothing against gay people and this doesn’t apply to everyone but situations like these do happen and are sad. My nephew was rapped continuously by his step uncle who was in high school when he was in elementary school with about an 10year difference. He’s 18now and identifies as gay and I pretty sure it’s cause of the rape. We support his sexual orientation now although I’m in a country where being gay is punishable by law.

I have nothing against the comic either, it was a dark but interesting read but it made me remember my nephews own experience.

My cousin who is his mom, is the one who caught them and they did deal with it accordingly. My nephew went through counseling and I can’t vouch over what sort of trauma it left him with or if he’s gotten over it. The rape had been happening for a while, kids are quite impressionable and to him it became a little secret game him and his step uncle shared. hmmm actually the age gap was about 8years between him and his step uncle not 10. But yeah, now he’s 18 and that was close to 11years ago and now he identifies as gay.

I’m sorry to hear about what happen to your nephew.
Sexual orientation does not come from, and is not in anyway linked with traumas or exposure. So try to imagine it like this:
To say that someone can ‘become’ gay just by being exposed to it, would imply that if someone is only exposed to heterosexuality they should be straight right? We all know that’s not the case because people are exposed to heterosexual behavior and lifestyle everywhere (ie the media and tv and the parents), but some of us are gay. And there are tons of people who are raped (Heterosexually) and come out as gay and vice versa.
I’m not sharing this comment in anyway to trigger or upset anyone. I’m sharing this because your nephew’s sexuality is HIS, and it’s beautiful. I don’t think he’d wanna tarnish that by giving it away to someone who attacked him. Does this makes sense what I’m trying to say?
