the probability of success doesnt exonerate him from his actions. that's a pretty backwards mentality. someone could stab or shoot you and since you happened to survived through your own efforts if means they should go unpunished? yeah no.

this is a dude who was indifferent when he had heard she had been abducted, unconcerned with her well being and more then willing to cut his loses and have her simply replaced at the end of the day if it saved him trouble. a person like that; who see's her life as expendable is supposed to suddenly start caring about the opinions/feelings of others? based on his monologue he doesnt judge people based on character but on usefulness or "amount of amusement" he gets out of them. like exotic pets, and when they get boring he throws them out (i.e his girlfriends) his behavior has always displayed a staggering disregard for how his words and actions effect others. I think your giving him too much credit. even if she comes out of this alive and well he's still going to be held accountable.
