Natsuo intervened without Rui's permission.. she even said it at the end of the chapter. I don't see how that's her fault? & the chapter is supposed to show her learning to accept help from others which she never does. Independence dosen't mean no one can ever help you sometimes things get out of hand for one person to handle alone. Maturing is also acknowledging when someone needs help.
However, she knows him, so well in fact that she appeared at the restaurant right there and then. Accepting help does not equal letting other people do what you should do yourself.
Overall I’m glad she finally did speak out about it. This kind of situations happen everyday in USA, in every type of job. Staying quiet is not an option, even if you lose your job, is better than losing yourself. I’m speaking from my
experience
Believe me I know exactly what type of situations happen in the states. I myself live in New York and I know very well it's a jungle in the business world I've experienced it too. But you can't expect a fresh out of high school girl that's from a completely different country to get it right the first time. Shit people from the states don't even get it right the first time and if they do that's great for them. But people learn from trail and errors. She learned to speak up
I really dislike characters like Rui. I get the PTSD, I get the depression, I loved that the author portrayed the true reality of America’s cultural diversity and the problems that come with it, as well as sexism In the world and how it gets downplayed as “jokes.” But Natsuo had to come all the way from Japan to solve a problems she could have addressed herself first? Nah, sis, that’s weak; especially for how Rui’s character was before that. I would have preferred if after talking to Natsuo, she would have come to the manager herself.
