It’s not a waste of time to try reading it regardless. The warning said sexual themes, but I was still unprepared for rape. I was intrigued by the story before that, y’know. And I like the art style! My comment was intended for people who needed this warning because they’re uncomfortable with rape :)

Lol so i read this again.... And i toatally forgot!!! Someone DIED in the first chapter!!!!
You know what makes me laught about all these "rape".
I noticed no one ever cries about human lives, but if one person is raped. All hell breaks loose.
I've seen ppl say you shouldn't normalize rape. But its ok to normalize murder?
I know you read passed chapter one because you read the rape. Lol of course murder is ok.
So if the painter guy got murdered instead of rape. You would of continued to read?

You're making a wrong comparison. Murder is obviously not okay, the same way rape is obviously not okay. They both deserve harsh punishment. And they both do get harsh punishment--at least in the real world if not in manga/manhua/manhwa.
The thing I don't get is why so many people are defending a manhwa using rape as a plot device. Why do people defend it? Rape is tragic and oftentimes the victims survive and have to deal with aftereffects of it for many many years. It shouldn't be overlooked in the manner it is in all yaoi. I absolutely despise the hand-waving they do to magic away its effects and declare it all as love. At the very least it's a super unhealthy way to have a relationship.

Murder is also tragic and oftentimes the relatives of the victims have to deal with aftereffects of it for many many years. Rape, just like murder, is a legit plot device when used right and not in the "oh u raped me cuz u luv me so its okay iluv u now". Yeah, it's fucking awful, but it comes in levels, like, the victim could be having the worst time of their life or... enjoying it like Nam Kyun certainly did (he just didn't know who he was doing it with, but he felt good indeed and it's not like the lord made him get drunk in the first place). So yeah, rape is not the worst that can happen to a manga, worse yet are awfully used clichés like "Oh, I saw you with a girl and I'll assume you are cheating on me and break up with you".

Hey, whether he enjoyed it or not shouldn’t come into question here. He was unfit to give appropriate consent so it counts as rape.
And please don’t compare the shitty breakup reasons with rape. Misunderstandings in manhwa are annoying af and I agree they’re awful, but rape—I feel—is even worse because it always seems to ends up with the two getting together regardless with no one actually talking about it

Ehhh, that's what I meant, it's a good plot device when used right, I.e. when they talk about it, or for a psychological kind of story with drama, like this one. And yes you can compare both of what I named when you take them as mere plot devices, but if we talk about more risky ones we could also include torture, stalking, bullying, prostitution and the afore mentioned murder (all of them leaving long lasting traumatic effects), which don't really bother many people, somehow?
So, ok, let's disregard the fact he might have enjoyed it, but you cannot deny there's a difference between a person wanting to have sex and actively allowing it without being forced to (even if you can't really call it "consent" when you are out of your right mind, I guess) and a person physically and violently forced against their will while they are rejecting the offender.
Point is, it's there to propel a story, which might develop into something good or bad, it depends, but it's not necessarily bad for the overall plot.
But well, you might have your personal reasons for being particularly sensitive about that topic, so I won't dig any further, just giving you an explanation why some people might have bashed you. Peace bye.

Agh, I typed a whole long paragraph and accidentally refreshed the page and it vanished :(
I wanted to say that I find consent important and I don’t care whether the reason is being intoxicated or being forced, but rape is rape. Maybe the psychological damage will be less for one compared to the other, but it’s still important to me that both parties be either sober or have discussed it previously along with safewords etc. The case in this story was way too shady for me to think of it as anything but rape.
Also I agree about the other things being used as plot devices (torture etc). I can’t read things with those themes that end up with the abuser and the victim getting together. Maybe it’s just me, but I can’t. That’s not any way to start a relationship—the power imbalance is too high and it’s toxic af.
And it’s fine, I appreciated the discussion. I was more confused on why people are messaging to this. I made a warning for people who are sensitive. If you are not, then I’d assume you’d just scroll past. It’s what I do. I don’t feel the need to tell someone they’re being too sensitive or delicate or to even expect rape. It doesn’t make sense. But ah well, I suppose it wouldn’t be the internet otherwise.
main lord guy rapes the painter. (the painter is under the influence it alcohol so consent is highly doubtful plus mistaken identity.)
It’s the reason I stopped reading.
ETA: dunno why so many people are coming for me. If you don’t care about rape then this warning wasn’t for you! It’s for people who might be sensitive/don’t want to read about it.
