There’s was a weirdo in the neighbourhood (a person who kidnaps kids I think). The dad was scared that the weirdo would get in if he left the house so he locked the door and even went further and chained the door up. While he was out, the dad was mistaken for the weirdo by the police and when he tried to say he wasn’t and that he had a kid waiting at home for him, they didn’t believe him.
*Also to add: The police thought it was neglect and abuse because the kid was hurt and everything in the house is a mess (￣∇￣")
The mom found a good job so took the kid back, but the dad decided to not go back with them, since he didn't want to make them unhappy due to being to absorbed with his work. He would send his son some stuff of his work.
