Hm... Maybe coz I don't expect everyone to have the strength to go after their love, despite the circumstances. So I could forgive him for abandoning Zach. If you think about it this way, Zach did die in bliss with his Hare. However, Jason has to live in his reality after Zach dies; knowing he will never see him again. That realization made me feel sorry for him.
I agree.......no one was telling Jason to continue to be his lover....but the fact that he ignored Zach and then accused him of gang raping Hanna disappointed me so much. Sure he didn't know about Zach's pain but he had no proof of accusing Zach and lead him to be crazy. My question is could Zach have moved on and lived a better life if Jason had just accepted him and not blamed him.
It is true that Hanna was in the center of thier rift; however, if you read the Manga carefully you will realize the gang rape or she killing herself didn't happen. In fact, she is still alive and well, and Jason says they divorced only a year ago in the real life scenario. Hanna kidnapping Zach did happen and my guess is that Zach was the one who was almost gotten gang-raped, though he managed to escape. You did notice I hope that Zach kept changing what happened to him as incidents happening to others, mainly to Hare. So, when Zach couldn't take it when Jason refused to believe the kidnapping and attempted rape that was the doing of the two-faced Hanna, in his head he changed it to Hanna being raped and Jason almost stabbing him for that reason. I know you might think Jason should have believed him. However, Jason has never seen that side of Hanna so I can understand why it was so difficult for him. Still I wish he did though and kind of hate him for that.
What Zach perceives to be real (Hare) is more real to him than Jason. So, it is indeed a happy ending for Zach. Though, I feel sorry for Jason a bit, I'm sure he can survive without Zach.
Some of the readers seemed to think that Zach and Jason never loved each other in reality. Jason did have a real relationship with Zach. However, Jason couldn't be strong enough to chose Zach over what the world expected of him. Thus, Zach choose the ideal version of Jason- Hare and started believing that it's true. He choose to live with the illusion and die with the illusion, because he couldn't take the betrayal of Jason not choosing him and could never forgive him.
