The author is amazing capturing real life feeling all the characters.
I'll bet there maniac out there handle stress by abusing animal.
But I like for mc to love other girl than his (ex?)wife or the girl(the sister of that crazy guy).
I don't think both women suit him,and although many wanna bl route,I don't think author into that. (Beside the guy is not well in head,I think in future; he will be mc obstacle)

I understand what you mean by his environment influencing his actions, but he's not completely blameless in killing his dogs. Don't take away his agency by putting sole responsibility on the way he grew up. It certainly plays a large part, but he still abused and killed animals under his care, and that shouldn't be overlooked.
The author is really amazing that he can potray so specific emotions to even make a scene where’s the antagonist had so deep feels. I don’t blame him for killing his dog, I blame his environment which makes him do that action.
