For me I need to be "in the mood" to read yaoi else it's like any other story. I do have preferences to what I like seeing so sometimes I'll try to look for manga w/ specific scenes. Also, uncensored or censored but that at least it keeps the shape of the anatomy is a must (kinda how most webtoons portray them). A blob of light in lieu of a dick is not arousing at all ( to me at least).

Same thing happened to me. If it’s any help, try not reading yaoi for half a year and then come back (it worked for me)

Maybe you‘ve become more used to it and the shortness, and similarities in the scenes make them less appealing. I’d recommend reading some really dirty(?)/kinky ones, or try ones that don’t really have a plot and are more just “smut” with nice art. Myreadingmanga is full of those kinds of yaoi.
