After reading Doctor Elise and then this drivel, I was greatly disappointed.
Dr. Elise is an slightly OP protagonist but only when it comes to medicene. She's rubbish at the rest of life. And her skills have a reason. It took her multiple lifetimes, but all of her achievements are her own. Her character development is well fleshed out and isn't driven solely by the Male Lead and the potential romance between them. Many of the side characters are also well developed with their own desires and motivations. The world building is good as is the plot flow and dynamics. It really is a stand alone piece. The only thing that could make it better is a few more plot points not involving the ML at all. Maybe with her family or other females. To better show that her world is filled with more relationships, important relationships, that aren't romance driven. A bit more pathos in general wouldn't be bad actually. Show us her failures as well as her sucess.
Anyways...
This one is.... terrible in comparison. Absolute drivel. Utterly forgetable, cliche, and quite boring.
OP, Mary Sue, Saint of a protagonist whose only sin was being born to the wrong family is magically given instant master level skill in any pursuit she desires all in order to help poor, less talented, folks who actually worked for their skills and in doing so inadvertedly heal and capture the OP Male lead's heart.

She has all the personality of a stick. The random masters she helps are more interesting than either her or the ML. Her world consists of a vague war and her miniature garden like workplace, the palace, with no hint of anything beyond.
Now before I go ranting on on that point, there has only been 8 chapters so far. Maybe more world building will occur (must occur). But if in those same 8 chapters she can become a super maid, master sculptor, and master composer all while already driving the ML crazy with her mysterious nature, there bloody well could have been some better foreshadowing and world building. So far all we've got is the ML saying if he ever catches that Princess, its marriage to him or death for her. That scene. That one scene giving us some background on the war and foreshadowing that she eventually will get caught and she will be forced into marriage.
And the reason for the war? Her family were tyrants or some vaguely bad people or something. But not her. She's the saint of her people. Cause a princess with no power or authority locked in a back room somewhere with no life skills somehow is able to set up an underground charity ring without being caught by tyrant parents. I don't know. The details are stupidly vague. The whole scene is just to establish that the prince isn't totally blood thirsty and she is at least useful as a political tool.
Ugh.
Anyways, the main point in all this is I was super disapointed when comparing the two. To the point where I suspected they were written by different people...
And guess what guys...
THEY ARE.
Or at least the author portion is different between the two suggesting different authors, but maybe same illustrator?

Wholly agree. We’re eight chapters in but it felt like the first three was a prologue and we’re just being introduced to the MC and ML . There’s something up with the councillor as well ? There’s an unlimited amount of mob characters bc of Morina’s dreams and the people she helps, but why is a seemingly important side character not doing what his real purpose should be ? As in, as a councillor, he should be doing more than committing himself into hunting down whoever the ML desires— like bringing in information in which the readers are able to evaluate the state of the empire or maybe the social circles, even if it’s briefly mentioned in a passing conversation; we’d have a point to consider in future chapters.
I understand that eight chapters is just the beginning, but it’s nothing more. Other than that, I believe the art in A Capable Maid has improved since Doctor Elise

I too feel the councilor is an under-utilized character. I mean, have we even seen his face? All I have is a vague impression of blonde hair and a hoity toity name.

Yes we have seen his face in an instance or two, but it’s hard to remember with how little he’s currently contributing to the plot line so far
