It's infuriating because as much as I want to haul the uke's ass out of that psycho, I can't. The uke was beaten to the point that it became the norm in their relationship (knife play is not sexy, neither is beating your partner,) he also convinced himself that there's no one for the psycho but him. He's the only one who can put up with his bullshit. That eventually the psycho will soften, giving him unwarranted passes.
I would dare say this is not a romance nor a detrimental, sick type of love. This is simply us readers watching a character getting gaslighted and that's why it irked us more than any Harada-sensei story out there.
P.S. If by chance, some necromancer read this, please reanimate Arima back so he can rip the psycho senpai's throat out. I'm sure he's been thinking of doing that ever since. (╬ ̄皿 ̄)凸
