Okay, so am I the only one that doesn't understand the score? What’s with all the hate toward Mizuki? Like, I’m actually shocked. And, I know I'm not teenager or whatever, but the comments and hate that the main character gets is really surprising, considering the fact that I’ve seen our main leads do so much worse and get forgiveness! It’s kind of ridiculous. Okay beyond this point will be spoilers, but for those going into this, read it objectively and don’t listen to the comments. Read it for yourself because it is a cute school boy romance. So, have fun!
Anyway, as we know this is a sequel with the main character being Mizuki, the one who bullied Itsumi in the previous story. So, we are following Mizuki after Seima basically tells him to fuck off. And he’s heartbroken because he was in love with Seima. Crying alone, Mizuki is approached by Fuji, and he tells him everything after being caught. They basically start interacting more, and eventually realize they have feelings, but misunderstandings, you know how it goes. Fuji believes that Mizuki will only love Seima. Mizuki believes that he’s not good enough for Fuji. In turn, tries desperate measures to get Fuji to hate him. He literally rides him, trying to have sex with him, and acting like he didn’t care about any of it, even after being sexually assaulted by one of the guys that helped bully Itsumi in the first story. Through all that, it was Mizuki crying out to be accepted. He started to believe that he deserved the mistreatment he got because of what he did in the past. The character growth is considerably good here, since Mizuki has redemption and wants it, but feels he doesn’t deserve redemption. Listen, we all experience feelings of inadequacy at different points in our lives. This is the prime example of it we see with Mizuki. This can lead people to self destructive behaviors and self loathing. He was desperate to be Seima’s number one and failed in the process. In turn, he starts to believe that he breaks everything and is truly unworthy, although he hides behind an optimistic facade when in school around others. He’s insecure because of his appearance. In turn, he tries to change himself to fit in. What he did was bad, but throughout the story we genuinely see him struggle to move on from it, not just because he loved Seima, but because he realized it was wrong. He empathetically puts himself in Itsumi’s position at times, realizing what it felt like to be bullied. So, I don’t really understand where all the hate is coming from in this. The story’s been done before. Yes, it’s not perfect, and I have a few flaws. I think that Mizuki could have been fleshed out a little more and Fuji for that matter, seeing more insecurities in him, but the characters are lively and you do empathize with them. I think this story is just as good as its predecessor. It;s sweet and lovely and just what you need to get in a good mood.I scored full so I can help bring the score up.
You have to think that Itsumi isn’t the only person that was targeted my mizuki. If he’s was that hostile when Seima approached Itsumi imagine what he did to people how purposely got close to seima. But I’m also one to stop reading a manga if the seme or uke is an asshole
