He definitely doesn't know she died young of heartbreak, thinking he left her for a noble woman because of his sudden elevation in status.
There is definitely a misunderstanding about what really happened. They obviously still have feelings for each other. But if they get together, I want him to suffer before then. Just a little bit. And then, I want him to be jealous of any attention she receives from other men, just so he could have a taste of the betrayal she must have felt thinking he had left her for someone else.
