Just gonna rant a bit.

Sort of a spoiler down below

I've been reading the novel and i have mixed feelings seeing so many hateful comments towards Kaid. I feel that it wasnt totally his fault. Circumstance was a big, sharp, painful stab in the heart.

Many question why he had to deceive her...... but i mean would he have known MC was completely blameless before infiltrating? Could he have told her about his plans? Sure, maybe, but it obviously would be a crazy idea and a risky one. It would crush her heart to think about her family dying and i think she will still feel betrayed either way but she would just have more time to react and come to terms with his action. Would she have sided with him? Well i bet based on hindsight she might say she would.

But i guess i just wanna say dont pin it all on Kaid. He had people placing their future and hopes on him. He couldnt just blurt out his plans. Imagine what you could do as a what was it? 14 year old out on a mission to kill the evil and selfish rulers who are killing their own people and land. He is doing his best not to get caught. Im sure he felt helpless not being able to save Shirley but he still had to liberate the land. He didn't have the luxury of being blinded by love. And lemme just say

Sort of a spoiler*

Shirley explains that she forced Kaid's hand in her execution. She throws disdainful words at Kaid which is understandable but has so much more meaning because it was done intentionally to put Kaid in a tough spot even though he wanted to offer her a way out. Kaid ain't blameless but Shirley did play a part in the end result.

Yep, it's pretty clear that she chose to be executed from the start. She pushed him, and her speech before her death was the result of that. She probably thought that it would help him if the people were convinced of her culpability.

I havent read the novel so I'm just guessing, but she thinks her second life is a punishment, living her life with no pleasure, and Kaid is doing the same. Because he took her life, he does his duty and tries to make absolutely everyone happy. If he fails, then he would have killed her for nothing, I think thats his reason for sacrifying himself so much.

Saying so much comment saying that he doesn't even feel guilty.... Right, it's been 15years and he still tries to atone but hey...

IKR!! There was no way he was fine. He just had to suck it up and keep his feelings all in order since he had a place to run. Even if its not obvious now it will be coming in future chapters. Im glad i wasnt the only one who thinks Shirleys actions were purposely pushing all the buttons towards her demise and to garner hate...... So many still commented things like "How in the world could he let her get executed?!" After that purposefully worded public speech of tyranny before her death, i thought it was pretty clear. I contemplated about putting a spoiler tag, which i eventually did, since so many people didnt even get the hint while reading.
