It does make sense especially if you have read the novel about guren that takes place before the catastrophe right now I feel it is slowly building to the climax
nope it still doesn't. trust me, as someone who wanted this manga to be so much better than it actually was, i tried so hard to make it make sense. but none of the plot points match up :)
