In the first chapter, Saegye describes his memories of Jinsol saying ''Things I can't forget because I've come to hate them''. I really wonder if he forgets Jinsol easily - after all, I believe that despite being a coward, he'd do his best to help Jinsol get out of his father's hands. On the other hand, the author of the webtoon said it's a romance story, so I guess in the end they will have a happy (?) ending

There are two main reasons for I think this story is so sad.
First of all, Saegye would've definitely helped Jinsol had he known about his situation. However, there is no way that Jinsol could've told him the truth, because he is a lie.
Second of all, no matter how much Jinsol might regret his actions, I dont see a way for the two of them to get back together (though i hope they do). After all, that was a big oopsie, and Jinsol has to try really fucking hard if he wants to redeem himself. I feel like his justification for tricking Saegye was valid, but that doesn't make it right.
However, I still hope they manage to find their happy ever after :)

I really like your take on it. I agree, it's probably one of the saddest webtoons out there, it's so sad it makes it beautiful.
I see your point that Jinsol could not tell Saegye about his circumstances, however, Saegye already deducted a lot with his help - e.g. seeing Jinsol's bruises, his mother abandoning him. Also, it seems like my theory that Jinsol can tell truth by writing might hold true - so in that case, Jinsol could manage to communicate with Sae somehow. Eventually, they could switch the D with F, Jinsol could explain everything to him, and switch back. However, it looks like like Jinsol actually wants to be solely responsible for his actions - in a way that seems like he almost doesn't want to burden Saegye by making him worry about his circumstances.
I also don't really see how they will end up together. To be honest, there was so much foreshadowing that Saegye will end up dead - e.g. when he as a ''Raincoat'' had a meeting with the woman from Dare's group - that I wouldn't be surprised if the story will had a dramatic ending. All in all, if anyone decides to report any of the two, there is no way out. The author said there will be around 30 episodes for season 2, so we have around 21 episodes left ;-;

well, about a year ago or so there were some strikes in relation to how Lezhin treats their artists. Supposedly, they had a ''black'' list of artits, whose work would never get featured and promoted, which meant that they would make less money comparison in comparison to artists who got promoted a lot - e.g. the artist of BJ Alex.
I sincerely hope the situation has improved by then. Even more the reason to support the artists there, as they get more money if their webtoons sell well. That's why I always buy Truth or Dare at Lezhin, even if it's updated here. I think the artist deserves a lot more recognition than he or she gets
Ok, so I just bought and translated the raw for ch. 39 (using Google, I know literally 0 korean). BUT, from what I understand...
Basically the chapter is from Jinsoon's POV during the time leading up to the big reveal of his secret and then him burning the house down. The whole time he feels super guilty and conflicted about lying to Saegye, but he feels like he has to achieve his goal of getting revenge or whatever on his father. His own self-image issues also come into play, because he sees himself as a monster, so Saegye is probably better off without him. He also wishes to himself that Saegye won't believe in him/fall in love. I also think that he seriously liked Saegye, because he reminds himself that he can't fall in love.Then after he betrays him, he tries to tell himself that its too late to fix anything.
Honestly, it's quite sad, because Jinsson sees himself as irredeemable and genuinely hates himself. And the one time someone genuinely loved him, he had to go and fuck it up (which he recognizes and regrets). What's even worse, because he is a Lie, he didnt really have an opportunity to have an open and honest conversation. I hope that he learns to love himself and redeems himself to Saegye
