"Neither child is going to know about it."
    or
"Neither of the children are going to know about it."

The way you've phrased it is fine, for informal conversation, but if this is for a lesson, I'd change it.

    Yes

Use either/neither when comparing one thing/person to another making the sample you've provided grammatically incorrect. You could use an app called grammarly to help you with grammar issues. It's free and easy to use. Good luck with your studies.

Sounds kinda strange if I'm being honest.

K I thought I should mention this after rereading your post. You mentioned "conversing". We don't really speak like that on everyday basis. Instead we would say something like this: (more 'informal' but we don't really have formal/informal standards)

"None of the children will know about it."

But it depends on what your context is.

THANKS!! that was actually the question. Our prof provided that sentence and asked us if a native speaker would use that kind of structure, and if we would correct a student who used that in a composition. This was really helpful!

yes, THANK YOU! The sentence was actually given by our professor and she asked us if a native speaker would deem it acceptable. I also checked it with a grammar checker and turned out the 'neither' was the only error, but i still need an actual speaker's answer to confirm. Thank you very much!

it can be, but we're not allowed to change the words in the sentence. But i'll take this as an option when i present. Thank you!!!

YES! that's what i told my partner. The "none of the" sounds better than only the word "neither" since it kinda sounds incomplete. And also, the sentence was provided by our professor and i had to ask you guys because one of the questions was if that sentence structure is acceptable to native speakers. I got a yes from all of you who replied and im more than thankful! I'll use your answers as evidence when i present. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!
