The impact and building of relationships centred around a late night diner is lovely. Nothing is ott, but it makes you think of how transient life is, and that everyone had their own story. The man who once shared the fish meal with another was no more, and his wife coming into the shop to thank the owner for showing such hospitality, all seemingly small interactions which nonetheless were part of the characters lives and gave stability. People die, they break up, they get together, they move but there is always the shop to return to.
