Except Lelouch actually cares about certain people instead of just using them as pawns to be god of the new world instead he puts other people into power that he thinks will change the political landscape for the better. He only pretends not to care when he does for his friends and a few of his siblings. He avoids sacrificing the people important to him which I think sets him apart from the protagonist of death note and makes him more empathetic as a protagonist even though he’s committed actions that can be considered anti heroic - the fact that what he’s against is a survival of the fittest environment and helping defend and get justice for the weakness that people important to him represent, but he is also someone that wants revenge against such a harmful system.

I’d also like to add that even though Death Note the English live action sucked and derailed from the original a significant portion, Light Turner was a far more sympathetic character than Light Yagami even though Light Yagami did have good intentions in the beginning like Light Turner, it derailed into wanting to rule the world as a god and getting rid of all the people he thought a threat to his utopia without much self awareness in his hypocrisy and that he was essentially hurting innocent people too.
Hey can someone tell me what Code Geass is about and if it worths watching?
