Idk how to explain it, you just can. Like I can recognize which family member coughed or which friend. There are always exceptions tho.
Actually you can. Well at least I can. I lost my mom at the big chinese bazaar and couldn't find her this time (since she won't stand out). If it wasn't for her coughing I wouldn't had found her easily (▰˘◡˘▰)
Just so you know I did tried to phone her, but she didn't picked it up because she didn't hear it ring due to be very noisy over there.
So whenever she cough even when she sneezes I somehow recognise the sound and the way she does it.
*And I not only recognise my mom's coughs also my dad's and even my dog and cat. I can hear and know it's them among others
