It depends. Yaoi is used to describe BL with sex scenes in and that can mean a lot.
It can mean it's a oneshot that's 90% sex but it can also mean there's one short sex scene after 50 chapters.
Besides, there's also no distinction between sex scenes that are supposed to turn the readers on and sex scenes that are supposed to be disturbing.
You can't say yaoi is porn/hentai because there's too much yaoi that isn't but you also can't say it's never hentai/porn because there's a lot of yaoi that is.

Like im baby said, hentai is a sub genre, so a yaoi manga could be hentai or not depending on the contents.

also, as someone who also reads hentai, there are also hentai mangas that are tastefully erotic. not everything is what people stereotypically dismiss hentai as... like disgusting and such.

German Wikipedia defines it as "homosexual relationship between male protagonists with explicit sexual content" (the mainly written by women part comes later).
Which means everything with a sex scene in it is yaoi.

Hentai means porn manga/anime (in the west), so the question here is, is every yaoi porn? My answer to it is no because a series is not called yaoi based on the question "is it porn?" it's based on the question "is there a sex scene in it?".
Like, there's an explicit sex scene between two male characters in Mr. Robot but that doesn't mean the entire series is just porn.
There's a lot of sex in Game of Thrones but it's still not porn.

I don't think porn is bad (I love porn and I'm actually bothered by how many BL authors forcibly add a storyline just to make the porn they're writing look deeper than it is) , but I just don't believe that every singel yaoi is porn, since porn is more than just a series including sex scenes.

i disagree with people that are constantly calling yaoi hentai. i mean there are some with fanservice that are for sure porn, but hentai has a different style and feel to it (personally i really dislike it, and it feels empty).
i feel like before it was more "hentaish", but it has developed as genre, plot is better and more diverse, no more clouds of sperm in separate panel etc [im being too specific]. there are still some where all you get is sex ofc. I would compare those to erotic movies. not truly porn, but still nsfw. also, a lot of them are like a movie with an explicit scene. (or maybe thats just me being used to nakedness and sex in movies, since every other serbian movie has to have that, even when its completely unrelated to the story ╮(￣▽￣)╭).

Thanks this is how I justified it with my friend, like does that mean every movie/tv show is basically porn since most have at least one sex scene in them. So I don’t think all yaoi is porn either, unless there’s no storyline whatsoever or little off it and it’s just pure pornographic content.

in yaoi , u add explicit scenes to spice up the story
in hentai u add story to spice up the explicit scenes
so both are DIFFERENT
