Mo xian you sacrificed his body and let wei wuxian take it. So wei wuxian is basically living in mo xian Yus body. But its not possession, since Mo Xian Yu let him take over using taboo "Blood Arts". So all of wei wuxian fragmented souls came into his body.
The anime is using the same character design so its easier for us to think of him as Wei wuxian
And the live action changed this format so that wei wuixans body has been revived instead of taking over another ones body, for the same reason so we dont think of them as separate characters.
The LN describes Mo Xian yU to be smaller, more slender and has little to no similarities in appearance in regards to wei wuxian

Can someone please explain??? In mo dao zu shi mo xianyu sacrificed himself and wei wuxian came to life in his place. So does he(wwx) have the same appearance and age as mo xianyu?? I am became confused after seeing the anime & live action.
