Did they hide or were they sent to the fortress because they didn't meet the criteria? Kind of like GoT, where the nobles' bastard sons were sent to The Wall...
But Dandelion (the little One, who got pushed out of the Window) had golden Hair, but blue Eyes and was accepted and presented as Prince anyway. So why are they making a big deal out of it now?
