I just looked it up and I found a blog where they explained how the novel ends and what happens after he dies and the aftermath
None of them have a happy ending sadly, at least he spent the last months of this life with someone who cherished and loved him, at the end the asshole gets what he deserves tho and the doctor moves away, a really heartbreaking story
