At least there was previously Eli running to the guards when the Leslie's carriage was set on fire. I feel like the author could have played more on that instead of having her return as a yelling mess in the shop tho

well its bullying everyone isolates that one person and if anyone tried to help they would probably get fired so out of fear no one did anything to help
as for the sister, she was brought up by her parents who are greedy assholes and was spoiled unconditionally. anyone in that situation without some experience to ground them or someone they end up like the sister
I think the family is a little bit cartoonish evil.
And it feels like everything is black and white.
