True, but it's not like he could've gone and try to seduce / steal the prince's fiancé before. They'd probably both be executed if that happened. Then the next thing he finds out is that the girl was offered to a dragon. He thinks the girl right now is only staying with the dragon because she has no choice, he doesn't know she staying with him willingly, whereas he knew that she had been betrothed to the prince willingly. I know it doesn't change the fact that trying to fight a dragon is dumb, but at least he's not giving up easily. I'm not mad at him for trying
