Meant to add before posting... I have a feeling these two aren't going to completely reconcile until spring, when Maya's event job is done. If they try to work things out now, it'll just be the same. It sounds like Maya's going to be working more than ever before and it'll leave Nemu feeling lonely and insecure again.
i think you're forgetting Maya isn't a mind reader. He thinks what he's ding is innocent friendhsip which it is in his perspective, and enmu is the type to bottle up irrelevant shit until it explodes. And nemu has to understand that Maya gave up everything for him, his home, money, stability, he has to work multiple jobs to afford to get gifts and going out when they can and be able to support himself to get his own place. Nemu still lies to his parents about maya being his 'friend', lives with his mom and doesnt need to really worry about tuition or lviing expenses. and when nemu is busy maya has to wait so your saying now that maya needs to survive, he needs to mke more time that he doesnt have fo nemu bcuz all of a sudden he's feeling lonely. lmao
That's fair. You're right, Maya has done a lot with Nemu in mind, and Nemu might not be fully aware of the lengths Maya went to come this far, because Nemu hasn't experienced anything like that yet. I do think that Maya slightly discouraged him from going down the same path (losing his home and everything with it) when he turned down the idea of living together. He didn't want to jeopardize Nemu's education by struggling to make ends meet with him, because he's aware of how important it is to Nemu. So, if it wasn't for that, Nemu might have ended up struggling as well. Maya also seems okay with Nemu lying to his parents about their relationship for the time being, or at least it hasn't been shown that he didn't like it yet.
However, I don't think the things that Nemu is bottling up are entirely irrelevant. He's had insecurities since the beginning, there's just been more adding up since they entered college. Even if they're small things, and may seem insignificant to others, they're important to him. It was shown that he feels invisible next to Maya when they're in public, and it gets to him. Maya calling him boring was a particularly low blow for him as well. Most of the times that Nemu tried to voice his concerns, Maya would get angry with him, and Nemu would immediately apologize thinking he's in the wrong, which is probably making this worse for Nemu. Rather than trying to hear him out and understand what he's thinking, Maya has been insensitive to Nemu. I don't think anyone should expect Maya to be a mind reader, but at least listen to his partner. I do wish that Nemu would stand his ground on voicing his concerns though (calmly, not in a meltdown), rather than backing down immediately and spiral.
Maya seems very comfortable in their relationship, which is great, but I think Nemu isn't quite there yet because everything is new to him. Nemu has zero experience with relationships outside of Maya, so Maya set the bar for him. Maya was very clingy and possessive in the beginning, even when they first entered college. While it has caused some issues in the past, I think Nemu became comfortable with it because it showed how important Nemu was to Maya. Now that Maya's situation has changed and has less free time, he's not around as much. But, even when they are together, Maya isn't as possessive. It's probably because Maya's too busy to worry about it, but it's sending a different message to Nemu, making him feel like Maya isn't as interested anymore. It's a big change for Nemu, and he's never been shown to be the most confident person so he's struggling with it. It's definitely something that Nemu needs to work on, but it's not exactly easy or instantaneous.

Man, this is the first time in a long while that my heart hurts for a character. First time with a yaoi series (maybe because this one is long running compared to most other series I've read, so there's more time to get to know or become attached to a character).
I kind of wish someone would smack Maya for not figuring out Nemu has a lot of insecurities after all this time. Doesn't even need to know specifically what his insecurities are, but at least be aware they exist. But the way he spiraled after Nemu wanted some distance between them, my heart hurt for him.
But, my heart hurts more for Nemu after seeing his inner turmoil reach a breaking point. I do hope that Nemu points out to Maya the first time Maya said "I love you" and how it sounded forced because of the situation.
