Allen was the person who host Nea. What happened to Allen has yet to be revealed yet but the host of Nea was transfer to the Dog. After the Dog died, Cross then put Nea inside Red. And Red became the new Allen. Clean and simple.
Was that explained in the novel or are you just guessing?
The most recent chapters shows the Dog talking to Mana as Nea. Which means that Nea is inside the Dog.
While Cross didn't technically put Allen inside Red, he basically help by steering Mana and the Dog towards Red. Which is told in the Novel and will be told in the near future. But you don't really need the novel to understand it. In chapter 206, Mother reveal that Red was the host that Cross has been searching for in 35 years. Meaning that during that time, Red became the new host and inherent Allen's place.
I just reread those chapters but didn’t see the dog talking to anyone. (⊙…⊙ )

It kind of makes sense what you are saying but then I remember ch215 . Nea was all like "why is Allen son young?" He stopped to think and we saw the first Allen's back and Red next to him. I don't get it wouldn't he remember being the dog? Or was Allen the self aware one and pretended to be nea??????
In Chapter 215, when he mentioned that Allen shouldn't have long lasting youth, indicating that Allen couldn't be Red. Then he say "On the other hand, this guy..." indicating that Red is separate from Allen. Not to mention that Red's hair is originally red. The only reason why it turned white is due to the trauma of Mana's death. The fact that Allen's hair is white strongly indicates that Red isn't Allen.
I can't believe I just realised that Allen got his name from the DOG so then how is he still host Allen unless the host is unnamed i can't remember I'm still confused and I've read this all the way through 7 times and currently probably having a breakdown (╯°Д °)╯╧╧
