Not all teens. I definitely don't remember being so stand offish with my parents unless they did something to make me mad. (like when my dad tried to make me break up with my first boyfriend just so that boyfriend could call and ask my dad for permission to date me.) Other than that we chatted and watched movies (helps that my mom likes fantasy and my dad like sci fi) all the time. We weren't Joined at the hip but I was rarely cold to them either.
