Go for it! I learned Mandarin so I could read stuff from Taiwan and China and it is definitely worth it. Currently learning Korean and Japanese too. From my experience, it's better cause you don't have to constantly wait for updates for so long just to read a translation.
and no new translations.... That is why I want to learn Japanese so bad!!!!!
