Have you ever considered that the New Year extra is a few years into their relationship? Seeing how comfortable they are with the relatives, I don’t think they can be like that with just a few months dating. My Asian friends don’t introduce their bf/gf to family holiday until they have been dating for a few years at least.

3. well the thing is that the new years eve episode is in 2019 and People start University normally around age 18. and lihuans 19th Birthday is in 2019 (again Born in 2000...) so I don't think it's a few years into their relationship because of their age.
but you know...this development is so slow right now it's literally not developing at all xD so I think it's ok for them to rush a bit more in the future :D

The story takes place in 2016!
It's around mid december 2016 to mid january 2017 right now in the story.
I was pretty sure the last time we saw Lihuan was around january 14th because the girl said it's been a few days since the holidays (january 1st) passed and there was a fullmoon. But when Lihuan said the holidays are in a month from now it didn't make sense because chinese new year starts january 27. It could be that their winter break starts late or that it was a mistranslation and the girl meant the trip (instead of holidays) so it would be around mid to late december in the story now? Or it's just early january and DJUN got confused with the chinese new year date idk
But i'm pretty sure they get together at the new years/semester end party right before the holidays/winter break.

why 16/17? he is 18 and turns 19 may 20th 2017. the chinese new year special takes place in 2019, when they are already together for 2 years and part of each others family.

I mean, except for the NY special, none of others are marked with a specific year. So we know quite sure that LiHuan enrolls in September of his 18th year, then by his 19th birthday (next year’s May) they have been together and came out to his dad. The current story is around January, so they will start dating sometime between February? to April. That’s all. It can very well be a few years before 2019, and for your information the Chinese New Year runs on a different calendar so the (Gregorian calendar) date changes every year.

So I had this thought in my mind that his 19th birthday‘s in 2019 aswell. But it’s not. Don’t know why I was so sure about that

DJUN said that the story takes place in 2016 some time ago, it's close in time to the events in Guang-Xiang also. And YuYang wouldn't be in his second year 4 years after Guang-Xiang.
