i think he doesnt want other people to know how desperately he wants him so he manipulates him into acting more aggressive and greedy which makes him look like the the one being approached
With his last lover, it feels like he was the one always seeking after the other affections and was only used for sex and the other persons gratification. I think he’s acting this way to ensure that Haemon is as in love (if not more) than he is. He probably using dumb methods to protect himself. Doesn’t justify his actions but once you have been hurt, you typically try to protect yourself. And like in real life, people don’t always make the right choices. Plus as always this is a drama — so the characters are going to dramatic Af and doing dumb crap to create more drama. The suspense, misdirections and misunderstanding are ALWAYS going to be dramas. Ps Someone needs to add drama to the list of genres
