I'm a little confused still... So is Eunjae dead or still alive but his name is mistakenly showing up in the death records because he was SUPPOSE to die? That's the only part that is throwing me off because they sometimes refer to him as dead but he's still able to interact with others and things as if he's still alive...
he's a dead man as 704 said but his body is still alive so he can walk on earth. And since there is still no clear decision on what to make of the incident and Eunjae, they put San on guard so no ghost will try to mess with the weak line connecting eunjae's soul and his body. Because once they do, Eunjae will be separated permanently from his living body and he'll become one of those ghosts who will wander the earth since they still have no good reason to go to the afterlife...so now we get San and Eunjae getting close together thanks to that (⌒▽⌒)
EunJae is a dead person on the paper. Because San saved him, he’s still alive, even though he’s not supposed to.
From San and 704’s talk, I assume if someone died because of a ghost, their names won’t appear in the death records before their actual death. Because that death is unnatural. However, someone tampered with the death records to put EunJae’s name there. Naturally we would assume it’s the long hair ghost’s work, but Yama, who is supposedly very protective of the death records, turned a blind eye to this incident. It is why 704 suspects that Yama and maybe Geumsun has something to do with this mess and he’s investigating what they are trying to cover up, despite Geumsun’s objection.
A list of what we don’t know yet:
- What is Hwan?
- What does Hwan want to do to 704 that Geumsun has to protect him from?
- Geumsun said he “shared his power” with San. What does that mean?
- What happened in San’s past? It may not directly relate to the incident with EunJae, because if it did, 704 would have immediately link them together. Probably just to explain about the dynamic between 704, Geumsun and San.
- What is Yama scheming?
The long hair ghost that possessed and attempted to kill EunJae was an unexpected element by all involved parties. In chapter 7 San said from the beginning Geumsun knew that EunJae was gonna die and did nothing to save him, but that is not true. Geumsun knew it all along that EunJae was Hwan’s target, however, apparently Hwan doesn’t plan to kill or take over EunJae’s body anytime soon, so he only kept watching from the side and dragged San in to keep an eye on EunJae. On that day Hwan was away, long hair ghost took the chance to possess EunJae and led him to the crossroad. Somehow EunJae’s name appeared in the death records (we still don’t know who tampered with it, Hwan, long hair, or someone else?), Geumsun saw it and immediately sent San over. Whether he actually wanted to save EunJae or just want to catch Hwan is a mystery. Then 704 gets involved because he was supposed to collect EunJae’s soul. And San is stuck with his walking dead boy. And EunJae found a new pet that gives his life purpose (づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ
