I actually really hate Charles. She tried, but he ignored her and hated her. Right before she left him for good, she warned not to regret anything if he remembers. Now that he remembers his past, it's like he's forgotten the past six years. So it's not his fault he forgot, but he treated her so badly... does he really want to go through so much just to be her friend again? I don't get it. What's wrong with him?

Meanwhile, the CEO (I forgot his name rip) is also pretty hatable. However, something someone said about Professor Umbridge and Voldemort from Harry Potter struck me.

We hate Professor Umbridge more than Voldemort because her crimes are more relatable and personal. Of course, Voldemort's done so much worse, but because he's done so many terrible things he's just a fictional character. He will never exist for us, while Professor Umbridge is probably someone we all know.

I think it applies here as well. The richest man in the world coming after you, kidnapping you, and raping you is so fictional, but the betrayal and hurt caused by a loved one is so much more realistic. Being constantly shut down in a one-sided relationship is real. It hits closer to home.

That's why I hate Charles, more than the CEO, for his inability to understand her.

Heh you're welcome! I'm glad you could understand. It just felt so weird reading all the comments about how they felt bad for Charles, because she literally warned him to not regret anything when he remembered. He never believed her or even asked her for the truth. And now that he remembers, it really feels like he's forgotten the past six years. If he feels bad and wants to apologize, what he's doing right now isn't it (ie. sneaking around, being competitive with the CEO, etc).
