I know but it seemed weird that at the end of the last chapter she seemed thankful (?) towards the man who took her as his wife (no matter the times, I doubt someone would have much positive feelings for the person they were basically auctioned off to)
Also, the way his children, especially the eldest, resent her for something she had no control over...
I think what you have to be mindful of is the different mindset for those times. When pretty much every person is married at a young age for generations, you grow up thinking it's normal.
Her being married off to an older male she'd never met might have made her unhappy (and it did, as we see in the chapter), it would be expected of her. A duty that she has to fulfill.
The role of parents back then was, more or less, to have their child marry into a better family and create good social connections; and the child was expected to accept it and do their best to be worthy of a better social standing. It's very much about politics than happiness and love.
But, getting back to the MC: Even if she wasn't happy giving up her dreams to marry an older man with a higher title, she could have grown to love him. He's a lot older than her, yes, but he could have been kind and loving and tried to make their marriage a happy one---which I think is true, since Jeremy (the eldest blonde child) seemed to be more unhappy about the fact that his father asked for her on his death bed than for his children. It implies that the father loved her very much, which would make the children jealous. I'd be pretty jealous too!
And for someone to make a political marriage a happy one is probably one of the best outcomes for anyone in that situation...
In the end, something like this wouldn't typically be seen as "an unfortunate situation I was auctioned off to, like a slave" but rather "An opportunity I never wanted, but have to take, as my duty". If he made her happy on top of that, then all the better in her eyes.

But this is the exact reason why such things are not practiced today, just because it's normal it doesn't make it right, she had no choice some old dude had no right to take her, and by the looks of this norm they probably had sex, more than once, this is not ok. I dropped this manga for those reasons, she was practically groomed, and since it was the norm back then, I am supposed to understand and keep going? It's like watching a movie based on slavery times where the house slave falls in love with the master cuz he was nice to her, that man still actively had a role in her slavery and saw no problem, and the girl was manipulated into thinking it was ok when she could not have runaway since she was a slave. It shouldn't be ok just cuz it was in the past, that why things have changed, because there was huge problem with it. That's all I have to say, have a nice day
Hi! There was a part where Jeremy was about to be judged and to avoid that, Shuli wanted a divorce and to be able to do that, she presented evidence that their marriage was innocent. There were letters and Jeremy's uncle also witnessed that. There were no sex involved and shuli was groomed to protect and guide the kids.
I am glad she didn't have to have sex with, still sad she was groomed and had her younger years taken away from her by that old man, evil or bad people can do kind things, it's a lesson I learned first hand, but thanks for the heads up, I am glad the character didn't have to go through that part of hard ship during her forced marriage,
It's interesting but are they going to properly address the fact that she was married off as a child to the father of the household...? That's just plain wrong yet it's like no one sees the problem.
