i think her fam had no choice but to send one of their daughters, bc they were one of the households picked by the emperor to send one. they had to send one of their daughters bc they can't go against the emperor, so MC chose to go in her sister's stead.
Maybe its true they no have choice, since the emperor is a dicktator. (〜￣△￣)〜
Why she choose this route? If she don't want that tragedy, she just need looking for another route, who make her family minimal in touch to the royal. Because in the first place the Emperor just fallen for the Baron.
