Papa sword is training her it paid off when she fought unarm & poison while protecting two men from the spider demon. He doesn't have her swinging a wooden sword at a practice dummy. But learning by fighting life & death battles.
Honestly I think that Fran should also train instead of relying on the sharing skills ability that they use. Then Fran won’t be in trouble when she’s in a situation where she doesn’t have the sword. Also she might become stronger if her own skills are combined with his but who knows. I just want Fran to be safe no matter what (*´꒳`*)
