My parents aren't that strict, but they're very controlling. The only opinion I was ever allowed to express was the ones of my parents. I was deemed unworthy of a knowledgable opinion on matters despite being educated about it.
I do agree on letting a child experience new things with a few limits to not get them into trouble.
I think parents who's really strict on their children either makes them a) depressed as hell or b) rebellious. I mean, i never got to experience sleepovers until i got my first part-time job (i was a senior in hs). I've written an essay about this too before and i think it's quite interesting. Children (well, mostly teens.) are not understood quite well, imo. Yeah they can be annoying but once they've entered highschool, they're practically young adults. So treating them like toddlers doesn't give them any benefits or prepares them once they've entered college, not saying they can be just let loose but give them time to explore themselves, explore the world and maybe they can find out what they wanna be. Just an opinion. I had to take a gap year after hs because i got all panicky and didn't know what i wanna do. I think most of the ppl on this site are teens, so i just wnna know what yall think.
