Let's not promote the myth that most homophobes are closeted homosexuals - most homophobe are just hateful heterosexuals. Associating gay = sex is a homophobic trope propagated and promoted by homophobic heterosexuals. You don't have to be gay to be homophobic, so shut up.
You're right. I don't believe that the bully is a closeted gay at all, nor should the stereotype be promoted. What I'm focusing on right now is making him look bad, is showing everyone in the room how obsessed he is. It's not the best course of action, but if I'm in that situation, I would do that and embarrass him in front of everybody. Again, not really a good decision, but it's a quick solution to get the upper hand.
