This retcon of their relationship was to bring in the cherry popper as a love interest for Yubin but the author realized that the relationship would fall apart and then just did a shitty Deus ex machina telling of them making up and giving each other couple rings when seme was absolutely crushed at the revelation.
It ruined the story for me because I was given the impression it was going to be a sweet angsty first love let's lose our virginity to each other thing. And it wasn't. And it made me question everything Yubin has said and did since the beginning of the story and it felt like it was a twist that was dropped to retcon their relationship to bring in someone else.
Or maybe the twist was planned from the beginning, the one we thought was sleeping around and playing with uke's heart was a virgin who didn't know how to confess his love or if it would be reciprocated and just did shitty things to cover that insecurity up while also being possessive to keep girls away; while the innocent horny boy who we thought was being played with actually had a one stand with an adult when he was 15 because he was questioning his sexuality...
So the one who was being used in the relationship was inverse to the truth. I mean used in that his love was never fully appreciated and thought to be shallow and lying by his lover...
