because its terrible therefore its bound to get hate lmao?? its poking fun at something thats considered deterimental to a relationship like cheating by taking it lightly. it literally features a dumb desperate uke chasing after an airhead who does as he please like is that supposed to be cute or amusing to you
I will try to explain my point AGAIN, since everyone on this site seems to have understanding problems.
The whole story plays on exaggeration. As you also said, the two main characters are 1) a desperate uke (I can’t stress this enough: 20 y e a r s) and 2) an EXTREME airhead (I mean, he decides to get married just ‘cause it seems comfortable).
They are intended to be caricatures of your stereotypical “I can’t forget my first love” and “I can’t seem to get that I’m in love with my bff”.
I think you all are trying to force reality in a story that is obviously meant to be enjoyed for its absurdity (and I see that happening a lot). Everything in this story is blown up to the brim and the title “Happy Ending” is meant to trigger a laughter, like “In spite of all this foolishness, we can still get an happy ending”.
I’m not saying that this story is perfect, nor I’m trying to convince you that this is an healthy relationship, but all in all I think that yes, it is pretty amusing, and surely not worse than some other more trending titles. That’s all.

you basically just explained why it gets hate so why are you wondering in the first place? majority of people dont think that absurdity is “amusing” its just a shitty plotline thats irritating bc it pokes fun on serious topics and exaggerates overused yaoi tropes like its something cute and if that was the point well then dont be surprised at the reactions
Well, I’d say that majority of people do indeed find absurdity and exaggeration amusing since “Love is an Illusion” is rated something like 9.5 and everyone is head over hills for it, and trust me, the main character is waaay worse that these two here combined!

I get that, cause no one in the whole world should be okay with this. Though then again there are people who might be in this type of situation. I would have preferred the uke to leave him tho in the end. That's what I did XD*cries* stupidly in love and forgave whenever my ex cheated on me. Couldn't figure out if we were dating or what we were till one day I just said nope
The ending did have a proper resolution and development to the characters tho so how is it any different than love is an illusion? It took this manga 6 romcom drama filled chapters to do what took love is an illusion 30+ chapters. I just wondered whether you actually stuck till the end to give a proper reaction to this manga cuz they did end up happily and the uke got a punch out of the seme for his dumbassery. （￣へ￣）
wow a punch! sure makes up for all the cheating and dumbassery he made the uke suffer from he really got him with that one!
The uke had all the rights to punish the seme how he seems fit, if its only a punch then thats it. plus it was meant to be comedic in nature so i dont see how you needed such a big ass drama fight in the ending of the manga. Also ume and hara was never in a labelled relationship and ume admitted that it was partly his choice that he could not be more possessive and forward to hara. Ume was fine with it, hara felt bad about it even if it didnt show that much because of his dumb deadpan face so why are you the one feeling unsatisfied with how things went?
Sure, the characters are extremely exaggerated and their relationship is pretty unrealistic, but in the end that’s what it’s all about! I’m sure the author was just having fun experimenting with extreme behavioural traits (I mean, the seme is described as an EXTREME airhead and the uke has been in love with him for 20 YEARS, sounds like a pretty obvious exaggeration to me), perfectly knowing that it was bound to end in an unhealthy relationship. I really don’t get what the fuss is all about, I’m sure you’ve read and enjoyed stories far worse than this one, I personally found it pretty amusing. Obviously everyone is free to like and dislike whatever they want, but I can’t seem to understand why this story in particular is getting so much hate ʅ(ﾟ∀ﾟ)ʃ
