Could be his imagination. He was remembering the past and imagined how his life would be if he wasn’t betrayed. I got to say the commoners were fucked up. Even if strom really was the one who did the illegal stuff it doesn’t give them the right to go and butcher a pregnant woman. In my views the commoners totally got wat they deserve. There os no greater sin then to kill and innocent

After reading all the comments, I still think that shin could be strom's son. I say this because the wife looked like she could give birth any day and maybe she heard some of the rumors going around got stressed out and went in to labor because of it. Then sent shin away so he could be safe. That would explain why shin was in the woods when merlin found him as a baby.

why do i have this feeling that strom is actually shin’s father..because in chapter 18 page 51 there’s a family picture...shin must be strom first born child..hmmm..just a thought...
