So I realize that this is going to be a very unpopular opinion and that a lot of ppl will disagree, which is fine, if you do please share why so maybe I can get into it again.
So, I don’t like BJ Alex.
Besides the fact that it’s entire plot is every fuckboy seme and innocent virgin uke plot ever, I found it really, really hard for me to like the two main leads. I get Alex is a damaged soul who has anger issues, that’s his character and that’s fine, but his repentance for the things he did to DG was laughable. He sits on his couch feeling sorry for himself after the big fight...and then stalks him around school for the next few chapters and gets jealous of any guy who blinks in his direction. It just felt lazy to me, and like a cheap use of humor to get the audience to like him again (though I’m pretty sure I was the only reader who didn’t like his personality because everyone else was already in love with him) if you are going to make someone so unlikable for the first half of the story, you better give a reason why (which the author did so good) but then he just has a total change of character and turned into a silly love sick puppy. It just didn’t work for me.
As for DG, his character is so flat. This is an issue I have with a lot of yaoi where the uke is a bully victim from his school years. DG’s only purpose in the story is to love and to fix Alex. Before they started the relationship, he obsessed over his videos, then when they got into the relationship his only goal was to be his boyfriend. When they got into the big fight and DG called it off I started celebrating because for once an uke was going to stand up for himself against someone who has been treating him like trash for then entire series, that is one thing I did like about the story. But then, he just went back to being nothing without Alex. I get after a breakup he would be sad and lonely without him, but nothing about his character really changed. He has no depth. I would have loved for their split apart to be longer, for him to actually get some friends (not including the random guy that was only create to make Alex jealous) because his character is still just “I want Alex, I love Alex, not having Alex makes me sad, I don’t have anyone if I don’t have Alex”
His friend from his work that’s apart of the secondary couple has more color than he does. I actually like the second couple more than the main because their dynamic is more interesting.
