Yeah, that's true, they were. However, men, back then, (especially those of higher class) were taught to treat women with manners. That's not to say they treated them equally, but I'm sure you can catch my drift.
Overall, I'm okay with a weaker female lead, so long as her presence isn't completely undermined by male ego.
That's kinda the case here, but I'm gonna keep reading, for now; still entertaining. Lol.
I actually have no problem with that. She may have been trying to help, but maybe he didn't want it, and not like that. Good intentions don't always equal a good idea.
I can't see it for this guy, but if that was me, even if someone was speaking up to make my image better in front if my subordinates, it would be hella embarrassing. I cringed from second hand embarrassment just reading the scene.
Plus, it was his place of work, so maybe she shouldn't have interfered too much, or tried to show a side of him to his subordinates he clearly didn't want to show. Her first line or first couple of lines would have been fine for the scene, not a whole speech because there's no saying how people would take it, anyway.
So, it's a bit cringey, but the art is really pretty and the smut scenes are nice. Honestly though, I'm more a fan of the strong-willed female MC. Our girl here is very cute, but so overshadowed by male ego.
She was just trying to help out hottie McDouchebag and he cuts her off by kissing her and then tells her to basically shut up. She responds with the cutest blush, looking like her knees are about to give out any second. *Insert dramatic eye roll from me here*
Getting told to shut up, in front of a room full of people, doesn't exactly wet my whistle, but hey, I guess she's into it. Lol.
But seriously, I'm enjoying it so far, for what it is :)
