It’s not the bonding. Dogs and cats knot when they mate, and it’s to prevent the female from escaping. It can only be undone when the male ejaculates.
it's similar to dogs having sex... as you can see, after they are done, the male dog is still attached to the female dog and will take some time to separate them this is because when the male dog reaches his climax... he will enlarge his penis inside to lock it inside the female (knotting) to ensure that all of the secreted semen will be caught by the female.. and this will increase the probability of the female to be pregnant.. and also this is very painful for the bottom.
PS: I tried separating the dogs after sex and the female dog almost bit me haha and i understand why, because she's in pain when i tried to separate them
