In MODS, which is Nights before night prequel, Haru explains Shiro's story to his driver. I'm not sure I understood every thing but it seems that Shigure, who was in charge of Shiro, planned to get away with him to save Shiro from being yakuza's property. And then Shigure has been hit by a car, probably murdered. But my English is insufficient to understand really well Manga with yakuza...
Okay I don't actually understand Shigure problem. He's Ichijou illegitimate (?)son, doing dirty work (killing people?) and then was bannished by Ichijou (why?) opened mahjong parlor and then Haru bring Shiro to him. But why he's killed? Because he wants to go away with Shiro?
