UNPOPULAR OPINION but I really hate when in yaoi they use girls just like another prop. It really annoys me. And I really hated when the black haired guy from the second story bad-mouthed girls. Yaoi isn’t about hating on girls but about guys loving guys

Wow, to be honest now that you mention it, I wish they would leave girls out of it. I feel it’s because of that, that I grew to hate most if not all of the girl rivals in bl’s. Like they manipulated my mind into hating those types of characters. Also another point, especially the girl rivals in shoujo mangas, you know the ones that go after the guy that already has a girlfriend, and KNOW they have a girlfriend? I HATE THOSE. Like I understand the important of a good love rival, but before anyone is dating anyone, not after the guy already has a girlfriend. It’s sad, cause I have a very low opinion on girl characters in mangas unless they’re the mc. It sucks that they do that to girls in mangas, cause I’ve read some mangas where guys try to go for the girl/guy that already has someone, but they don’t make it seem as needy as they do with girls who do that, you know what I mean? Sorry I went on a little rant there but basically I just meant to say that I agree with you (๑•ㅂ•)و✧

I get you. I was the same way until I read a yaoi in which this ‘clingy, annoying-ass’ (I used to think that) girl was used just as a way for make the character jealous. And I really defeated her, but then I noticed that I was poor writing. Like, come on, if you’ll make a female rival at least draw her face. And yes, the second lead characters are treated completely different if they’re female or male. Some even have the “second lead syndrome” when it’s about males but when it’s a girl most of the time you’ll end up loathing her.

ON POINT about the second lead syndrome when it comes to guys, and not girls. Are you reading Broken Season by any chance? The character Nami, you pity her but at the same time don’t, then you kinda want her to disappear, but at the same time you know she played an important role in the mc’s life. Idk man, that manga is a mess but really good when it comes to drama (〜 ̄△ ̄)〜

I don't think it's as unpopular an opinion as you say. I've seen many comments on just that on many different mangas. There are quite a few that don't but in general, straight relationships in yaoi manga (and the girls that go with them) are undesirable. Unless a strong friend or sister role that doesn't happen much.
Females are tools for the plot, but so are all characters. And I either end up thinking they're absolute bitches or feel sorry for them. (And he did apologize. His monologue also recognized it as wrong.)

Exactly!!! Like at least 60% of the readers are girls and then they go badmouthing girls for like...what reason exactly?
