I think it is loosely based off the play by Shakespear.
BUT I wouldn't rule this story out because of that. From what I can tell, the charactersand basic plot are the same as the original, but there are some major differences. I don't think this story is as sexist as the original.
Truly? Because I just hate what they did to the "shrew" woman in Shakespeare novel. It makes me want to resurrect him and kill him again slowly for even writing that shit.
Yeah, this seems way more romantic already. Plus i don't think that there was a love triangle for Kat in the original.
That said, my knowledge of the original is all from sparknotes lol
