She isn't allowed to think for herself. She never has been allowed to. She has grown up in this world with the fear of ever breaking her "cutesy little sister" act meaning execution. You don't suddenly change back from that. If anything, I'm noticing a subtle change in her though. As the boys/men start treating her better she isn't as polite and self deprecating any more towards them. Instead she's more just friendly with them. A HUGE change considering the world she's in. Though subtle from our point of view.
Changing a society like this doesn't happen quickly. It can take decades to get any real change going. Maybe even centuries under certain conditions. So I do feel her work is progressing said society in that direction. Just very slowly.
Changing a society is not easy but not doing anything and acting cutesy isnt going to move the plot anywhere. While all the men have fleshed out characters despite being A-holes. 99 percent of women are just 2 D characters that have no talent, just wants male attention, all bow to pissed princes, all harrass the MC, and have little to no personality whatsoever. And when a women do have personality and strength stupid MC goes "uwu I'm not going to work with a girl i deem capable for fear that my sexist man would choose her uwu". And then after all that, she just pretends like she has no power to do anything... even tho she has never tried at all. - __ - . She can be cutesy. But that is not all women are good for. Revolutionists in reality did not Out-cutsey their oppressors. Author mistake being feminine with being a doormat. This manga couldnt even pass a Bechdel test. Its far from the liberation manga it hope to be
It’s not like I’m expecting one day for her to wake up and lead a feminist march but she’s almost an adult now and her brother still call her a mutt and she’s still living the stereotype “kyaaa brother oppar please save your little helpless sister” “omg you saved me oppar brother kuala thanks a lot >.<•”
I can understand her being manipulative as a kid to survive but her goal as a kid was TO CHANGE the patriarchy. Now suddenly she has forgotten it and her only goals is to... well what? Have you noticed it? She really doesn’t have a goal at all
Its more of the "we are chill" kind of relationship. Rather than an actual friendship tho. I just dunno. Author has the talent of always choosing the blander route no matter how many exciting plots come in. She was given a female character to be close with, and yet her ovaries got to her. She was given a kingdom of equality. But she's more concerned with herself and her self-pity (which is just laziness in disguise). It shouldnt take 127 chapters to be just smiling and pouting and not doing anything, and be isolated from all other contact with women. Is this even her story anymore? I can count the number of women with some sort of power on one hand. And that's three. So might as well not ask for equality anymore since women are that useless.
Yeah, I was kind of hoping that she would be offered a chance too betray her family or do something to rebel against them in some way after they've grown so fond of her and then they act all shock and she would be like "So you think I liked being treated like that and worrying about dying of I said the wrong thing or be treated like your other daughters" (I almost forgot she even had sisters. If our MC wasn't born with her memories she would end up just like them) and then maybe they would change or something would happen. I doubt that would happen though she seems bizarrely happy for someone force to put on a permanent facade of sweetness in fear of being killed or worse. The last time I remember her doing anything to help women was at that slave place she visited as a child and then she basically forgot. She could at least bring up the idea of women's shelters or something to her father of something by saying she wants to help the less fortunate. She doesn't even talk to other women about they're treatment in private.
As far as I know there was an artist change, not an author change.
Anyway, I think a large part of this can be attributed to the culture over there. Cuteness, Femininity, Subservience to their man, and other such things are still viewed as normal and good traits for any woman. In my opinion those views aren't entirely wrong, though they mostly are. Anyway, from the viewpoint of such a culture, I guess they might see it as a strong woman or something? Not entirely sure.
And though I had hopes things might change in later chapters I can already see where this is going now... Her powered awakened, and she's starting to learn to use them. But apart from a woman knowing magic being rare, she apparently even has a kind of magic that hasn't been seen before. And in the pyramid she was called the holy saint or something. So it's obvious the men will all be fighting over her now. Be it for feelings or for her unique and OP magic. And she'll probably be kidnapped more, dragged around more by men "knowing what's best for her" and wanting to protect her, etc. In other words, more story happening to her rather than her making story happen. A real shame, imo...
I VASTLY prefer Reminiscence Adonis. Now THAT mc is a proper strong woman.
I think its the age old problem of story being written by an author from a gender imbalanced background. The environment the author grew up in affected their perception of gender. Being feminine isn't being a doormat... but such cutesy, waiting-for-men behaviour is considered the norm for women in countries like Korea. I guess its okay to have this trait. I mean, I appreciate my guy doing stuff for me to show that he cares. But that doesnt mean that Im not capable of doing anything on my own and has to rely on men to do "men stuff" all the time. Its the idea that women should do "women stuff" and men should do "men stuff" only that is ingrained into many culture... There is no choice. And doing the opposite is considered "alien" and "unattractive". And thus Sanghee falls into this trope where anything that might be "masculine" to the author is wiped out from Sanghee and she ends up having the Support role for her despicably cruel sexist brothers despite being the main character and feeling content that they treat her like a mutt. -_- I am already feeling scared with all the kidnapping plot that is going to come. Sanghee has lost her purpose and the ability to make an impact in the world. Also her powers are so lameeeeeee. Just healing powers? Sure its unique and all but... its still a power for others especially the men to use!!! Another example of how the story is happening to her, and nothing she do will have any impact to oppose the system. I'm so dissapointeddddd.
And as the story goes by she’s getting more and more boring. I wanted to see a revolution of the patriarchy but all I’m seeing is a girl getting saved by the men in her life and her not thinking for herself
